Kaleidoscope: Ideas and Projects to Spark Your Creativity,
By Suzanne Simanaitis

status: currently reading

this is an amazing book, with various articles by numerous artists, compiled almost like a magazine, or a zine, which works best, full of inspiring and challenging ideas! i'm currently addicted to reading a bit of it everyday.

«TRY»

Now this one is quite a mystery... There are so many things i could «TRY» today... Well, to tell the truth, the first thing that came to my mind was that i could try and paint some random stuff; just "test" my crayon
s or pastels (i used to love painting random abstract stuff with my pastel 'chalks' when i was in highshool!). Then, there are other thing i could «TRY» to do:

- organize a few corners in my chaotic messy bedroom
- chat online with one of my best friends who i owe him some (online) time, dedicated just for him
- i'm sure something else came to my mind along with the past 2 items but now i've got a blank! Darn!

«TRY» is a tough word because in my subconscious it relates directly to "make an effort" to (try) and make something. Is "trying" something ever an easy thing? When is that?

try to sleep
try to eat
try to breath

try to sing
try to paint
try to dance

try to love
try to forgive
try to forget

«WISH»

note 2: this card was a random pick (like all these card picks are supposed to be), by the end of the afternoon, when i arrived home from work.

i WISH this stomach ache would disappear fast, so that i could feel ok to continue reading «Kaleidoscope» after dinner. This book is really enthralling and i'm almost addicted to reading it!

Living the Creative Life: Ideas and Inspiration from Working Artists,
By Rice Freeman-Zachery

status: currently reading

this sweet book arrived a couple of days ago and i started reading it the same night... i didn't want to stop reading it. the book had some 'exercises' that you have to make in order to make some progresses and continue to the next chapters
but it was way past my bedtime so i had to put it down ;-/
anyway, the next day while i was at work, i had an urge to rush home and pick up the book hehehe! hopefully, i will continue reading it tonight and maybe i can begin working on some of the exercises (mostly stuff about writing and making lists, but it makes sense in the whole context).

Artists' Journal and Sketchbooks: Exploring and Creating Personal Pages,

By Lynne Perrella

status: done reading

this book has some beautiful and very inspirational images, if you're just beginning with making art-journals or even other ways of using collage. it has everything, from simple and "beginner level" ideas to create pages from scratch, to advance and complex techniques. for the latter, i would recommend you to browse the web and buy other books on these techniques.
i added a couple of bookmarks where there were ideas and projects that seemed quite simple, for myself to make, considering the few spare time i have now and my "little" procrastination problem...
